The Historical centre of Agropoli

The oldest part of the city, perched on a cliff overlooking the sea, is reachable through the spectacular staircases and crossing the monumental door. Along characteristic alleys, we reach in a few steps the Angevin-Aragonese Castle surrounded by a wide and deep moat.

Paestum

The archaeological area of Paestum and the National Archaeological Museum is less than 10 km from Agropoli. The ancient city of Magna Graecia hands many temples in excellent condition. A dip in the past that surprises and enchants.

Castellabate

About 12 km from Agropoli we find the village of Castellabate, a medieval town developing around the walls of the “Castle of the abbot”. A fortress with perimeter walls with inside houses, ovens, cisterns and stores for supplies.

Velia

The ancient polis of Magna Grecia Elea, which in Roman times became Velia, is located 34 km from Agropoli. It is an archaeological area with access through the symbolic Porta Rosa. Inside the remains of the Port Area, Porta Marina, the Hellenistic Baths, the Roman Baths, the Agora and the Acropolis are open to visitors.

Castelcivita Caves

A surprising complex of karst cavities just 36 km from Agropoli. Scenic and evocative, they are rich in stalactites and stalagmites and extend for several kilometres under the Alburni massif. Visitors can choose among four different types of routes. The site is open every day.

Palinuro caves

About 67 km from Agropoli we find one of the most beautiful coastal locations in the entire Cilento. Palinuro enchants thanks to its sea caves along the rocky promontory.
Among these, the Blue Grotto stands out. It owes its name to the bright colour of its waters, an effect given by the sunlight that slips into the rocks and pops out creating an intense blue colour.

From the touristic harbour of Agropoli, we can live the boat excursions experience through which to admire the local coastal strip from a privileged angle. San Francesco Bay

Dominated by the homonymous sanctuary, the San Francesco bay is one of the most captivating places of Agropoli. It can be reached along the path originating from the sanctuary or arriving by sea. High water quality for a small stretch of coast characterized by a beach of large and small stones. "Scoglio di San Francesco" is in the middle of the bay, identifiable by the cross placed on it. Legend has it that here Saint Francis stopped to talk with the fish.
